Noosa Photography Tips

Whether for Noosa wedding photography, beach portrait photography or personal photography, the following are my four basic tips on how to get the best photography in Noosa or advice on how to improve your photography.

Where: Noosa and the surrounding area is a fabulous place for photography, whether that is weddings or portraits or just for local interest. Some of the best locations are to be found along Noosa beachfront or along the boardwalk to the National Park. The National Park itself is real treasure trove of opportunities with both beautiful beaches and rugged coastline as backdrops. A popular place for wedding photography is along Noosa beach around the spit and the bright yellow surf lifesaving hut.

When: In Noosa the best time is the period known to photographers as the golden hour. This is approximately one hour before sunset where you get a beautiful golden glow, which enhances any wedding scene and provides a wonderful romantic feel to wedding photographs.

How: I could go into a plethora of compositional rules for good photography, but the only thing you need to know is that if the photograph conveys an emotion, a feeling, then pretty much it’s going to be a good photograph. If it’s wedding or portrait photography and you’ve got the where and when right you just need to concentrate on getting an emotion across, do that and you’re onto a winner.

What: For good photography in Noosa you don’t need much by the way of camera equipment. For landscapes and seascapes a tripod is an essential and a good weighty one at that, you don’t want to have a 3 second exposure of Granite Bay ruined by the wind. For me the most important part of your kit, and if you want to spend a fair bit on equipment, invest in the best lens. It’s the quality of your lens that could make all the difference, cameras will be superceded and pretty much have a limited lifespan, lenses can be used long after the camera has been replaced. And finally if quality is really what matters then hire a professional…. To view more of Alan’s work click on the Image gallery links or visit Alan Hughes Photography here
